Opening Credit Sequence for Birthright Outlaw.
This was a wonderful project to get to art direct and illustrate. The team of 3D and composites where incredible to work with as we attempted to bring this pre story to life. This is one of those credit sequences that is not of moments in the film but rather the key moments that lead up to the start of the story. There is a strong theme of playing cards in the film and so I wanted to use that as color inspiration along with a rough hand drawn look that evokes feeling of the early West.
Below shows a bit of the working process. Many passes were taken to work out the style and lighting.
This animatic shows the earliest stage of the project as we worked out timing and what would be included in the final. Note: "Outlaw Queen" was one of the original titles considered.
